*October 4, 1895: Jonas Reynolds caught and landed in jail. He was arrested Monday at Sheffield, east of K.C. Charges withhorse stealing. Stole 2 horses from his brother in Clinton Co, J E Reynolds, and two from his brother-in-law, WIlliam Peters, who lives northwest of town. Officers believe that Jonas is a member of a gang of horse thieves. Jonas will be remembered, running an illicit distillery for his own consumption principally, when Uncle Sam's officers raided him a few years ago.

* February 11, 1898 - Jonas Reynolds, an old man, was found dead in his cabin at Minnaville, Mon. He had not been seen for a week and when a neighbor went to the house, his dead body by discovered. A few years ago he was arrested for making moonshine whisky. Government officers came over from K.C. and arrested him at his home. In 1895, he was arrested for stealing a horse from his brother-in-law, William Peters. Jonas has sons who are excellent citizens.

*February 18, 1898 - An article entitled " Poor Jonas Reynolds." Says he was once a highly esteemed well-to-do man, could go in any society, and married in a nice and respectiable family. He was doing well until it pleased God to call his companion from him. She left 5 children, 4 boys and one girl, all now married and doing well. Jonas married a seccond time. His last wife left two children, a girl and a boy. They live in Tennessee.
