Ophelia Gordon Wofford, 86, of Springfield, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Houston, Mississippi to the late Herbert and Ella Crockett Gordon. She married Tommie Wofford in 1951. Ophelia was a resident of Springfield for 64 years.
She worked as a domestic worker and volunteered for various non-profit organizations. Ophelia was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was also affiliated with Embassy East Fellowship Ministries. She enjoyed reading and watching television. Ophelia (aka "Grammy") especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Wofford, Sr. in 2003, three brothers: Angelo Gordon, Sr., Omega Gordon, Alpha Gordon; and four sisters: Maggie Mae Jones, Ollie Lee Johnson, Minnie Elaine Moore and Bonnie G. Hargrove.
