Chesapeake-Ida F. Brooks, 70, of the 300 Block of Keith Court passed from this life to eternal peace on March 3, 2008 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was born in Norfolk County to the late John O. Carrington and the late Clara B. Carrington.
Ida was the widower of Edward N. Brooks, Sr. and was a faithful member of Holy Light Church of Deliverance where she was a member of the Advisory Committee, former member of the Gospel Choir and past President of the Pastor's Aide Committee.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory a daughter, JoAnn Peppers of Chesapeake; three sons, Edward Brooks, Jr. (Sharon) of Petersburg; Daryle Brooks (Cassandra) and Michael Brooks (Cynthia) both of Chesapeake; one sister, Erma Edmond (John) of Chesapeake; one brother, Alonza Carrington (Octavia) of Va. Beach; four special nieces, Deborah Gomes,Cyndia Allen, Andrea Carrington, Sherry Carrington; special granddaughter and caregiver, Towanda "Poo" Bailey; devoted companion, Shirley Thomas; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one uncle, Carlton Carrington; one aunt, Celia Fuller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday; March 8, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Holy Light Church Of Deliverance in Portsmouth by Bishop Samuel L. Carruth officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Fitchett Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.fitchettfuneralhome.com.
