On 28 Aug 1878, twenty years after the death of her husband, Thomas, Susan applied for Widow's Pension for Thomas' service in the War of 1812. (see below)

On this 28th day of August A.D. One thousand eight hundred and seventy eight personally appeared before me, John P. Edwards, Clerk, Superior Court, the same being a Court of Record within and for the County and State aforesaid, Susan Bradley, aged Seventy Six (76) years, a resident of Walton County in the State of Georgia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Thomas Bradley deceased, who was the identical Thomas Bradley, who served under the name of Thomas Bradley as a Private in the company commanded by Captain Barton, in the Battalion, commanded by (name of officer forgotten) in the War of 1812; that her said husband was drafted at Watkinsville, Clarke Co. GA on or about the 1st day of December, A.D. 1812, for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of two months and whose services terminated, by reason of an honorable discharge at Watkinsville, Clarke Co. GA., on the 31st day of January, A.D. 1813. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: 5 feet 11 inches high; 20 years old; was a farmer; born in Jackson County, GA; Fair skin; blue eyes and black hair. She further states that she was married to the said Thomas Bradley, at the city or town of (near Jefferson), in the County of Jackson, in the State of Georgia, on the 8th day of February, A.D. 1821, by one Benjamin Mayo, who was a Justice of the Peace, and that her name before said marriage was Susan Allen, and that she has not remarried since the death of said soldier; and she further states that she had formerly been married to William Allen who died March 15th 1819 & her maiden name was Susan Oliver and that her said husband Thomas Bradley, died in Walton County, in the State of Georgia, on the 25th day of March, A.D. 1858; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: They lived immediately after their marriage in Clarke County Georgia up to March 1822 and then moved to the County of Walton Georgia, has lived at said place ever since that time. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the pension to which she may be entitled under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740 Inclusive Revised Statues, and the Act of March 9th, 1878, and hereby constitutes and appoints with full power of substitution and revocation, R. McAllister, Jr., of Washington, D.C. Her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim and she further declares that she has heretofore made no application for bounty land or pension on account of the services of said soldier in said war nor did said soldier and that her residence is in the Country 8 miles from Monroe in the County of Walton, in the State of Georgia, and that her post-office address is Monroe, Walton County Georgia.
