Ida Foster, 82, of Winfield, died March 24, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Foster was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Lakewood, N.J., to Earl Martin and Elsie Davis (Roark) Spangler. When she was a young child, the family moved to Chester, Pa. They later moved to Kansas, and Ida graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944.

She and George Freeburg married on May 18, 1946, in Newton. She worked as a waitress for a short time before becoming a full-time homemaker. In 1972, she became employed at Presbyterian Manor in Newton as a certified nurse's aide. She retired in 1995 and moved to Winfield.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, embroidery, gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Allen Freeburg, a brother, Clinton Marten, and her sisters, Edna Peters and Kathleen Gibson.

Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Sherri Ann and Harry L. Humbert and Lola Elaine and Marshall Martin, all of Winfield; her grandchildren, Scott Humbert, Heather Lumbert, Shelley Jones and Dawnya Sorg; her great-grandchildren, Ashton Humbert, Waylon Lumbert, Richard Boomershine, Amber Boomershine, Philicia Swanson, Cameron Sorg, Alena Sorg and Adrianne Marie White; Her sisters: June Koehn of Buehler, KS; and Louise Moore of Gresham, OR and a host of nieces and nephews.
