William and Honor Prudence (Street) Thurman owned the farm where this cemetery is located. The approximately 305-acre farm was eventually divided in 1870 via a quitclaim deed between three Thurman offspring: Cordelia "Dink" (Thurman) Williams, John Thurman, and Thomas N. Thurman.
