Wilma Pauline Arthurs McMurphy passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023. She was born in Bridgeport, Oklahoma April 25, 1936, to Ethel and Walter Arthurs and was a longtime resident of Norman, Oklahoma.

Orphaned at an early age, Wilma lived with her sister Isabell and her husband Albert Davis for many years and cherished the love and stability they brought to her life. In 1953 Wilma graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. Wilma married Gale McMurphy on December 22, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Prior to her marriage Wilma was employed by Kress' Department Store in Oklahoma City where she developed a real love of music while working at the record counter. She loved to tell how she saw Fats Domino and Elvis Presley in concert. Her love of music was not limited and included country and gospel as well as rock-and-roll. After moving to Norman Wilma worked, until her retirement, as a bookkeeper at C.R. Anthony's in Norman, Oklahoma.

In retirement, Wilma and Gale enjoyed spending time at T-Bird Recreational Club on Lake Thunderbird enjoying their campsite structure which they built from the ground up, the many friends they had there and the social occasions held there. Wilma and Gale also enjoyed their travels to Colorado and New Mexico but their favorite times were the ones they spent with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Walter Arthurs, her husband Gale McMurphy of 62 years, son Ronnie Gale McMurphy and son Randy Joe McMurphy as well as by her six siblings Isabell, Mary, Betty, Thelma, Orville and Earl.

Left to cherish Wilma's memory are her son Danny McMurphy and wife Cheryl Walker-Esbaugh of Norman; grandsons, Kyle McMurphy and wife Kristen of Irving, Texas and Cole McMurphy and wife Lauren of Norman; great-grandchildren Gaby, Luke, Jack, Oliver and Vivian McMurphy; special niece Donna Johnson and husband Myron of Bridgecreek, Oklahoma as well as many other family members and friends.

A funeral service for Wilma will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
