"Thelma is the daughter of William and Malah (Wales) McKnight. She attended Wayne State College. She married Edward C. Bierschenk on March 28, 1941 and together they operated Bierschenk's Grocery at 421 Harrison Street in Council Bluffs for 30 years. She also taught third grade at Roosevelt Grade School in Council Bluffs for 27 years. She was a 50-year member of Bethany Chapter No. 113 of Order of Eastern Star in Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Thelma was preceded by her husband and her niece, Mary Sue Dyer. She was survived by her sister, Mary Brandt and niece Jane "Jody" Scheffelmaier both of Elllensburg, Washington."
