Fr. Fitzpatrick was born in 1935? in Dubuque, Iowa to Francis and Mildred Fitzpatrick.
He attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Darlington. He completed his high school studies at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, and he attended college at St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee. He completed his philosophy and theology studies at St. Francis Seminary.
He was ordained to the priesthood on May 26, 1962 for the Diocese of Madison at St. Raphael Cathedral by Bishop William P. O'Connor.
He served as associate pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Madison; St. William Parish, Janesville; St. Victor Parish, Monroe. He served as pastor of St. Thomas Parish, Montfort; St. John Nepomucene Parish, Castle Rock; St. Mary and St. Paul Parish, Mineral Point; St. Patrick Parish, Janesville; St. Joseph Parish, Gratiot; and St. John Mission, South Wayne.
He also served as diocesan rural life director and on the Presbyteral Council.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Bishop William H. Bullock was the main celebrant.
Burial took place in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
A visitation was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot, Wi. from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Thursday May 8, 2003. There was also a prayer service during the visitation at St. Joseph's Church.
Visitation was also held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Friday, May 9, 2003 from 9 A.M. until the time of the mass.
