"James Martin "Jay" Wilson, 81, 5503 N.E. 167th Avenue, Silver Springs, Fla., died at 9:20 a.m. June 20, 1994, in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, shortly after arrival. He had been in ill health since October of 1993.

He was born in Rob Roy, Fountain County, May 13, 1913, the son of Samuel Martin VanBuren and Roxie Nevada Zick Wilson. He was married to Anna Marie Snider, Nfay 18, 1941 in Independence. She preceded in death May 31, 1974. He then married Rose Mary Hartlep, June 16, 1978 in Battleground. She survives.

He was raised and attended school at Rob Roy. He had lived for 22 years at Battleground and had wintered in Ft. Myers, Fla., for five years and had been living in Silver Springs, Fla., since 1985. He had lived during the summers at Indian Head Lake Campground, Attica. He had worked as a stationary engineer for the Western Materials Company, West Lafayette, for 31 years. He had formerly worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company, Attica, and for the Wabash Railroad. While living in Battleground he had served on the town board and served as an elder of the E.U.B. Church of Battleground. He was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Ocala, Fla., and when in Indiana, attended the Assembly of God Church of Attica. He was a charter member of the Battleground Lions Club, a member of the Moose Lodge #1529 of Lafayette. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. He had worked for 15 years at the 500 Mile Race as a safety patrolman. He had formerly bowled on several leagues in Lafayette.

Surviving, besides the wife, are: a son, James E. Wilson, Brandon, Fla.; three daughters, Joann (Larry) Hann, Judy K. (Larry) Ford, both of Battleground; Janet E. (Jerry) Ault, Lafayette; two step-sons, David Hartlep, Florida; Bruce Hartlep, Lafayette; a step-daughter, LaVeda Fouts, Lafayette; a gister, Ruby L. Bailey, West Lafayette; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marilyn J. Jordan; a brother, Ira E. Wilson; and a step-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at Maus Funeral Home. Attica, at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Harvey Lange officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Moose memorial services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
