Samuel W. Harbour

Samuel W. Harbour, 81, of Springfield died at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital.

He was born June 18, 1911, in Chatham, the son of Samuel and Minnie Harbour Harbour. He married Letha Ruth Ritz in 1930; she died in 1965. He then married Josephine Reid in 1966. Also preceding him in death were several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Harbour was a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service for six years and had been a self-employed coal hauler for many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine Marie; four daughters, Mrs. Pete (Donna) McConnell of Illiopolis, Mrs. Clarence (Bonnie) Reiser of Pleasant Plains, Mrs. David (Sandra) Britz of Chatham and Vicki Ackelson of Springfield; six sons, Willis, Robert, Jack and Troy, all of Springfield, Arthur of Chatham and Charles of Divernon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Mooney of Springfield; a half brother, Charles McCaverty of Gillespie; six stepchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
