He was born Jan. 15, 1928 in Cloquet to Elias and Marigold (Santineau) Arbuckle.
He graduated from Cloquet High School and was a star basketball player. Alton entered into the U.S. Navy where he served as a frogman in the ''Navy Seals''. He then worked and retired from the Diamond Match Co. in Cloquet. Al was selected to be named on the Centennial All Star Basketball Team in Cloquet.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Orland, Fred and Wenzel Arbuckle; and one sister, Louise Mickelson.
He is survived by one brother, Patrick Arbuckle of Chicago; one sister, Theo Mayberry of Opp, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Kay Deegan, Sandra Weedman, Marilyn Walters, Peggy Roy, Jack Joseph, Nancy Kersey, Joanne Lutter, Jim Arbuckle, Shawn Arbuckle, and Chris Arbuckle; and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed with a luncheon in the fellowship room. Spring interment services will be at Old Calvary Cemetery. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care to assist them with arrangements.
