One day shoveling snow from the driveway heard a little voice telling him, "You didn't have to shovel rain or fogin California, what are you doing this for?"

Packing up his family he headed back to California, settling in Livermore, CA. Jack worked for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a research and development lab, for 32 years. Retiring in 1993 as the Lab's Traffic Manager.

Jack met and later married Madeline "Midge" (Darchuk) Janzen on March 20,1982 in Discovery Bay, CA.
