John Kent Johnson
October 26, 1928 - February 26, 2023

John Kent Johnson, son of Joseph Smith and Mary Agnes Johnson, passed away peacefully in his home with people he loved on February 26, 2023. Kent is survived by his cherished wife, Penelope Ann Johnson, Temecula CA. His 5 children, Jody Johnson (Jennifer) San Dimas CA, Michael Johnson (Ellen) Moreno Valley CA, Craig Johnson (Monica) Indian Wells CA, Brian Johnson (Daphne) West Jordan UT, Julie Thompson (Gary) Mammoth Lakes CA. As well as Zelma Johnson (the late Lowell Johnson) Kanab UT, Laura Hafen (the late Doug Hafen), Mary Fleckner (the late Eric Fleckner). Also, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Beverly McGill Johnson, of 57 years, also, siblings Arden, Thales, Quimby, Lou Jean, Lynn, and Smith.

Kent was known for his tremendous love of his Savior and the Gospel, his spouses, family, and friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He grew up in Kanab Utah and after high school moved to Downey, California. This is where he raised his family and established his career. He and Beverly moved to Utah to retire. They lived in West Jordan and South Weber. Each place Kent lived was blessed by fresh vegetables, grape juice, chocolate chip cookies, kind smiles and service. He was a hard worker in all areas of his life which was a blessing to his family and fellow man. He had a great passion for missionary work on both sides of the veil. Kent loved serving in the temples of the Lord and doing family history. This work has been extensive. Binder after binder of translated journals, stories, and pictures. Kent's legacy is love, service, kindness, laughter, music, and finding joy in the simple things God created.

There has been such a tremendous outpouring of love, compassion, and service from so many: stories have been countless about his dry sense of humor and love. All that knew him knew they were cherished. It is fun to think about the reunions he is having now. His legacy to those who knew him will be remembered for generations.
