James "Jim" Carlson, 71, Kenmare, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his home.
Jim was born on October 1, 1951 in Kenmare to James and Dorothy (Peterson) Carlson. He was raised in Kenmare and schooled in Kenmare and Minot. Jim lived in Kenmare his whole life and moved out to the farm in 2006. Jim worked at various jobs throughout the years, including delivering water to cisterns since 2002.
Faith in Jesus was very important in Jim's life. He loved to help people, often going out of his way to do so. Jim loved his family and enjoyed visiting with them when in town.
Jim loved to work on the farm and his tractors. He was very passionate about getting the farm going to make a good living for his family. He also enjoyed classic Ford trucks and listening to KHRT radio. Jim was a big fan of Cass Clay ice cream, orange juice, and butter. He also liked pie.
Jim was married to Nancy Schwartz at Faith Baptist Church in Kenmare on October 8, 1978. Nancy passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 1979. He married Faye Rairdon on June 20, 1987 at Berean Baptist Church in Fremont, California.
Jim is survived by his wife, Faye, Kenmare; daughters, Jesse and Rebecca Carlson, both of Minot, and Melissa (Stephen) Urciolo, Knoxville, TN; sister, Carol (Dave) Tengesdal, Tioga, ND; Nephews, Mark (Anna) and Sam Tengesdal; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brothers, Jeffrey and Douglas; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Kenmare.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Kenmare.
