Charles Allan Hunt, 78, died peacefully at his home in Richfield, Minnesota on Sunday, May 7, 2023. First son of Kenneth Hunt and Ann Slezak, Charles was born on August 31, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up in Chicago and being allowed as a child to ride the Addison Street bus to Wrigley Field instilled in Charles a life-long love of baseball, if not of the perpetually woeful Chicago Cubs. Prior to his senior year in high school, Charles's father moved his family to Birmingham, Alabama, where Charles graduated from Shades Valley High School. He then attended Auburn University of Alabama, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. A member of Auburn's Navy ROTC, he then joined the United States Navy and served as an officer until 1969, completing one Mediterranean cruise on the minesweeper, U.S.S. Assurance.

Charles married his first wife Alice Ann Finn (Tiano) in 1968, and completed a Master's in Business Administration from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972. During his time in the U.S. Navy and directly after, Alice and Charles also lived in Panama City, Florida; Honolulu, Hawaii; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Houston, Texas before divorcing in 1979. After moving to the Washington, D.C. area in 1980, Charles met and married his second wife, Judith Catherine Peyroux, that year. After their marriage, they were practically inseparable until her death in 2016 at their home in Daphne, Alabama. They also resided at various times in Palm Harbor, Florida; Annapolis, Maryland; Birmingham, Alabama; Calera, Alabama; Spanish Fort, Alabama; Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and Tijeras, New Mexico.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Ann, his uncles Jarvis and Henry, his cousins Robin and Jill, and by his beloved wife Judy – and their many well-loved canine companions through their years together.

There are few people or things in his life that Charles loved more than his wife Judy, and he especially loved to hear her play works by Chopin on the baby grand piano they bought. In honor of Charles, Judy, and their time in the Mobile Bay region, his family will hold a memorial service at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, 6690 Spanish Fort Boulevard. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 25th at 10:30 AM. He will be interred at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
