Shirley Elizabeth Benning, age 80 of Mankato passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Pathstone Landing.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was born to Tom and Helen (Rudenick) Anton on March 11, 1943, in Mankato. Shirley graduated from Mankato High School in 1961. Shirley married William Benning on January 27, 1962, in Mankato. Shirley was a waitress at various restaurants including 3rd Avenue Tavern, Holiday House, and Stoney's.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, gambling, and most of all spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Tim, Bill (Kelly), and Brian; grandchildren, Kenady, Kahlan, Kersten, and Sydney; great-grandson, Kahlil; brother, Tom Anton Jr., and nephews, Mike (Heather), Eric (Kristine), and Luke (Casey).

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Shirley's family wishes to thank the staff at Pathstone Living and the hospice team for the compassionate care during her time there.
