Captain Herbert Richard Browne, Assistant Commissioner 2nd Grade, Assam, India. Son of Henry Ulick Browne, 5th Marquess of Sligo, and Catherine Henrietta Browne (nee Dicken, d. 26 Nov 1914 in London). Born and baptised (25 Dec 1858) in Chinsurah, Bengal, India. In 1890 he was a Political Officer in the Lushai Hills, a mountain range in Mizoram and Manipur, on the border between India and Burma. He died unmarried on 9 Sep 1890 aged 31 years, treacherously killed by local Lushias tribesmen.
