Samuel Shook, 69 died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rachel Butler, of Dexter Oregon. His body was brought to Myrtle Point for burial at Gravelford. He has been a resident of Oregon close to 60 years. He was born in Germany (Error-he was born in Indiana) and crossed the plains from Indiana with his parents at the age of 14 years. Their object being Oregon. After a residence here for a short time the family went to Lincoln Co., Washington Territory and lived near Davenport. Returning to Oregon in 1895, settling in Douglas Co., came to Coos Co., and settled on the Coos River in 1905. They then moved to the North Fork in 1913/14.
