Mrs. Latrelle Lawson Barksdale, 87, of Tifton, died on Monday, June 7, 2023, at the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Quitman, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, Interment will follow in the Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Marshall Kennedy, Rev. Charles McCardle and Mr. Larry Waltman will officiate.
Mrs. Barksdale was born on August 28, 1935 in Worth County, to the late James Edward Lawson, Sr., and Fannie Mae Aultman Smith. She had lived in Worth and Tift County most of her life and was retired from Northside Elementary School in Tifton, where she worked as a Lunch Room Attendant. Mrs. Barksdale enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Barksdale was a member of the Covenant Freewill Baptist Church in Brookefield, Georgia.
Survivors include her children, Ronnie Barksdale of Albany, Gail Barksdale Woods of Tifton, and Wanda Barksdale Paulk of Hahira; grandchildren, Christy Woods, Shannon Carroll (Will), Matthew Barksdale (Whitney), and Joel Paulk (Kim); great grandchildren, Isaac Carroll, Noelle Carroll and Katelyn Carroll, Olivia Barksdale and Davis Barksdale.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barksdale was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William J. "Bill" Barksdale on December 26, 2014.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
