Effie Black, age 93, of Upper Lake Rd., died Friday, March 21, 2008 in Thomasville Medicial Center. She was born April 13, 1914 in Davidson County, a daughter of Thomas Everette and Eleanor Jeanette "Nettie" Hedrick Bowers. Mrs. Black was retired from Hill Hosiery Mill and was a graduate of Pilot High School. She was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church and served as the church organist for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Women's Guild at the Church. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charlie Bowers and Clyde Bowers; 3 sisters, Ann Christie, Ina Swicegood and Hattie C. Bowers. She was married to Clyde W. Black who preceded her in death February 18, 1962.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 pm in Emanuel Reformed Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
