ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Alice Sheffel Abare, 89, of Gloversville, formerly of Draper Avenue, died Saturday at the Fulton County Infirmary after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Abare was a lifelong city resident.
She worked for NYNEX for more than 20 years in the cafeteria and the mail room, retiring in 1971.
Mrs. Abare was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Rosary Society and senior citizens group. She also was a member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Center in Schenectady.
Her husband of 35 years, Anthony Abare, died in 1961.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
