Bernard E. Poff, 52, a meat cutter for Refrigerated Locker Service Inc.,
was found dead in his room at the Park Hotel here early today.
Dr. Golf P Lilly, county Coroner, called after Mr. Poff's body was discovered, said death was caused by a heart attack. He said Mr. Poff had been in ill health for about a year.
The body was found lying on the floor near the bed by Jimmy Sutton, a clerk at the hotel, and Sid Cochran, a guest.
Cochran had gone to Mr.s Poff's room to see if he wanted something to eat, but was unable to get in.
Born in Kanawha County (*birth record shows Fayette county) 9 November 1900 (* again birth record shows 1899) Mr. Poff was the son of the late John and Emma Holstein-Poff.
Survivors: Two daughters, Mrs. W.D. Parks of 801 Garvin Av., and Mrs. Ed Mullins of Charleston Rt 5; and two sisters, Mrs. A.S. Skaggs of Cabin Creek and Mrs. Bert Eads of Frame.
