Adolf Otto Schucker was the son of John Schucker and Louise Kozel. He immigrated to the U.S. aboard the S.S. Arabic, leaving Hamburg, Germany on September 18, 1924, and arriving at Ellis Island on September 29, 1924. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on December 5, 1930 in Onondaga County Court, Syracuse.

Otto married Bertha Grossman on June 16, 1931 in Syracuse.

Otto worked at various jobs, as a farmer in Germany, and in the U.S. as a carpenter, a shipping clerk, a pattern maker in a machine shop, a tailor, and finally as a machinist for 38 years at The Prosperity Co., Syracuse, which manufactured commercial laundry and dry cleaning equipment.

Otto was also a minister, serving as the pastor of several Syracuse area churches as well as preaching at many others. These churches include The Temple Street Mission, The Gospel Tabernacle, Cold Springs Community Church, and North Syracuse Church of Christ. For years he preached the monthly service in the German language at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

After his wife Bertha died he married Leona Rose Miller on May 5, 1973.

The Rev. Adolph Otto Sehueker, 76, of 167 Briggs St. died yesterday at Community-General Hospital. A native of Germany, he resided most of his life in the Syracuse area. He formerly resided on Hamilton Road, North Syracuse. He was employed by the Prosperity Co. for 38 years. He conducted services at the former Temple Street Mission. Surviving are his wife, the former Leona Miller; two stepsons, Leon of Camillus and Dr. Ronald Miller; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elaine Perkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 stepgrandchildren; a brother, Erwin; and several nieces and nephews in Germany. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sears-Middleton Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Contributions may be made to NAVAC.
