Lloyd Leo Baber was born on June 5, 1920 in Eastonville, Colorado to John Thomas and Lulu Pearl (Brace) Baber. Lloyd peacefully passed away on March 11, 2014 in Colorado Springs. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen (Seger) Baber; son Richard Baber (Sunny), daughter Judy Baber-Clarke (Harry); grandchildren Brian Baber (Sandy), Casey Baber and Jessica Hildebran (Ryan); and great-grandchildren Owen and Joseph Hildebran, Andrea, Nicholas, Brianna, Colton Baber. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters: Bernard, Frank, Leon, Keith, Lois, Bessie, and Zona; two sons Lloyd Eugene and David Leo.

Lloyd grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado and served in the US Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945 in Papua, New Guinea. He worked in the logging industry for many years, producing railroad ties for the Rock Island Railroad. He also worked for the City of Colorado Springs Water Department as a heavy equipment operator; he later retired and enjoyed many years with his family.

Lloyd loved automobiles and thoroughly enjoyed 38 new vehicles in his lifetime, especially Chevrolets.

Services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs. Viewing will be 9:00 am Saturday prior to services. Burial will be at Peyton Cemetery, Peyton, CO.

The family wishes to thank Laurel Manor Nursing Home and Pikes Peak Hospice for the excellent care and love extended to Lloyd and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Peyton Cemetery, c/o Rick Manyck, 10411 Log Road, Calhan, CO 80808.
