Tommy Ray Greenway, 73, a resident of Chesnee, SC, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Born in Royston, GA., he was the son of the late George Tom "Tommy" and Wilma Worley Greenway. Ray was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Army Security Agency. He was awarded the Soldiers Medal of Valor and was honorably discharged as a Sargent. He worked in the insurance field for many years and later worked at several industrial jobs until his retirement. He was an avid gun and knife collector and enjoyed billiards where he served as captain of two league teams. Ray adored his two grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them every chance he got. Ray helped countless people throughout his life, never asking for anything in return. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Hall Greenway; son, David Greenway (Sabrina Knox); daughter, Dana Vaine (Steve); two grandsons, Brandon Vaine and Tommy James Greenway; and a sister, Karen Brooks (Stan).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Davis and a brother, Ronnie Greenway.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, 909 Flat Rock Road, Anderson, SC 29624. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Flat Rock Cemetery.
