Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Pinon Church of Christ for Oza Gentry Holcomb, 90, of Pinon, who passed away on June 2.
Ralph Skelton of Pinon Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be in the Avis Cemetery.
Holcomb was born July 30, 1910, near Weed, to Elmer Whit and Edith Margaret Strang Atkins. They preceded her in death, as did her husbands, John W. Gentry and Basil Holcomb and two brothers, Charlie and Frankie Atkins.
She was a rancher and a member of the Church of Christ. She spent nearly 50 years writing the news from the Weed-Pinon area for the Alamogordo and Artesia newspapers. She was an avid gardener, spending much time and effort growing and preserving fruits and vegetables.
Survivors include: daughters Dinnie Tosh and husband Charles of Belen and Frankie Lacer of Roswell; step-daughter Jo An Stringfield of Weed; one sister, Pearl Daugherty of Chinese Camp, Calif.; four grandchildren, Janice Kendall of Clovis, Steven Tosh of Aledo, Texas, Sue Bennick of Lubbock, Texas and Mike Lacer of Saginaw, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family requests memorials be made to Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad.
