Debbie Starr, 71-year-old longtime Beaver, Oklahoma resident passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at The Heritage Community in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Debbie Kay Hopson Starr was born on April 14, 1952 to Irvin & Scottie Hopson In Guymon, Ok. She had 3 brothers, twins Dwight & Dwayne and Richard. She grew up in Texhoma and graduated with the class of 1970. She participated in Choir, Band, Pep Club and was an outstanding basketball player. Debbie married Darrell Adkins. They had Greg in December of 1971, while attending PSU (In Goodwell), They lived in college housing and were dorm parents.

The family moved to Amarillo, TX. where Robin was born in April of 1975. In 1977 they moved to Liberal, KS where Debbie worked as a teacher's aid, waited tables the bowling alley and worked at Citizen's State Bank.

Debbie married Dean Starr on January 25th, 1983. The family then relocated to Beaver, Ok. Debbie was employed by N.W. Federal Savings & Loan and 1st State Security Bank. Those positions led her to The Bank of Beaver where she spent the final 24 years of her banking career and where she had built lifelong friendships.

Debbie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved golfing, fishing, painting, baking cookies for people in the community, entertaining at home and most of all, she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. She had many friends and was an awesome mother! Debbie was also an amazing Nana! and, a year ago she was blessed to be Nana to her first great- granddaughter, Blakely.

Debbie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She grew up in The United Methodist Church in Texhoma where she accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized as a teenager. Her faith continued to evolve and strengthen her, throughout her life. Her faith became even more significant after her life-changing stroke. At that time, she drew strength through God's word to help conquer her daily trials & struggles. She never grew tired of examining and studying God's word. Anyone who came in contact with Debbie would witness that Christ was working in and through Debbie until the day she met her Savior.

Debbie is preceded in death by her husband; Dean Starr, her parents; Irvin & Scottie Hopson and a daughter-in-law; Jennifer Adkins

She is survived by her two children: son; Greg Adkins of Howe, Tx. and daughter; Robin Metcalf and husband Shane of Hooker, Ok. Her three brothers; Dwayne Hopson and wife Debbie, Dwight Hopson and wife Carolee, and Richard Hopson and wife Connie.

"Nana" is survived by her grandchildren; Dayton Metcalf & wife Taylor, Dawson Metcalf, Dillon Metcalf, Devry Metcalf, Jackson Adkins and Hayden Adkins and one great-granddaughter; Blakely Metcal
