Funeral for Ruby Alexander, 98, of Bridgeport, was to be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Cumby Cemetery. Danny Russell and Gerald Cleveland will officiate.
Pallbearers were Dempsey Alexander, Bedford Buckner, Eddie Huckabee, Lester Page, Jimmy Wright, Larry Goswick, Jerry Thompson and Bill O'Neal.
Alexander died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Bridgeport.
Born Nov. 17, 1909, near Crafton to Bud and Maggie Huckabee, she started school in Park Springs and graduated in 1929. She married Roy Alexander Dec. 20, 1929, in Waurika, Okla. They moved to the Willis Alexander farm west of Park Springs in 1931, where they lived until 1945. In 1946 they bought the Willis Alexander farm southeast of Park Springs. Ruby raised chickens and tended to fruit trees and blackberries on the farm. She moved to Park Meadows Care Center, now Trinity Independent Care Center, on Oct. 1, 1997. She was a member of the Crafton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 26, 1986; three brothers, Hicks Huckabee, James Huckabee and Edd Hanes Huckabee; and four sisters, Ethel Page, Addie Ashford, Mary Bonham and Willie Wortman.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews."
