John A Proffitt, 84 of Centralia and former well-known band instructor of Wenatchee, died at his home in Centralia on February 11, 1955. Mr Proffitt was the conductor of the Community Band that played summer concerts here for many years. He was also well known throughout North Central Washington as a teacher of band instruments. He was a member of Riverside Lodge No. 112 F and A.M. and a life member of Wenatchee Lodge No. 1186 B.P.O.E. both of Wenatchee.
He is survived by his widow, Ethel; one son, Hartzel Proffitt of Seattle, and one daughter, Mrs. Alberta (Ray) Maynard of Menlo Park, California.
Funeral Services are announced today by the Hoerling Mortuary, Centralia today.
