STARKEY, EDWARD J.
Son of Alexander and Frances Starkey was born Sept. 2, 1851. He was one of a family of ten children all of whom have proceeded him to the great beyond, except one brother and one sister.
In early boyhood he heard the call of the Master and gave his heart to God and sometime prior to 1868 he united with the North Liberty Christian church.
He served his church in many ways, always found faithful to his trust. Being an elder at the time of his departure.
On Nov. 13, 1879 he was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Delong. To this union was born one son Ernest O.
For a number of years he has been in declining health and on Sept. 22, 1922 at the age of 71 years and 20 days a hand was stretched forth as from the darkness and touched him and he slept.
He leaves one son and four grandchildren to carry on the work which he began.
Funeral was conducted from the North Liberty Church Sun. Sept. 24 by Rev. H.A. Davis, burial in North Liberty cemetery.
