Mary Leah Duane, age 93, of Monroe, MI passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 9:40 AM in the Lutheran Home. Prior to entering the Lutheran Home Leah made her home with her daughter and son in law Shauna and Paul Shaw. Leah was born August 1, 1914 in Continental, OH the daughter of the late Remi J. and Florida, L. (Laub) VanEeckhoutte. Leah attended, Baum and the Papermill Schools and was a 1932 graduate of Ida High School and went on to attend Monroe Business School. In 1945 Leah married Allen Duffey. Sadly he preceded her in death in 1947. On October 30, 1948 in Toledo, OH Leah married Kenneth P. Duane Sr., sadly he also preceded her in death in 1985. Leah worked for 4 years as the bookkeeper for Frank Schrauder Meat Co. in Monroe and then went on to work for Kline's Department Store in Monroe for 58 years until her retirement in 1993.Leah was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Leah was active in the March Of Dimes, Blue Birds and was a Campfire leader for several years. Leah enjoyed music, dancing, reading, gardening and baking. Leah was a very loving and caring person and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leah is survived by her beloved children: Kenneth P. (Monica) Duane Jr. of Aiken, SC and Shauna L. (Paul) Shaw of Monroe, 2 cherished grandchildren; Jamison (Erika) Sinclair and Nicole Sinclair, 2 treasured great grandchildren; Nicole and Tyler Kimberley, 2 brothers; Raymond (Joyce) VanEeckhoutte of Erie, MI and Doyal (Rosie) VanEeckhoutte of FL, and her sister Virginia (Leonard) Rohn of Monroe. In addition to her parents and spouses Leah was preceded in death by her son Allen J. Duffey, a brother Calvin VanEeckhoutte, and 3 sisters; Vivian Boberg, Alma Kroh and Ivy Larrow. Visitation for Leah will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM and Saturday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Clarence Van Conant pastor of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Due to the celebration of Easter there will be no visitation on Sunday
