Joseph Dutli, aged 95 years, passed away on May 18, 2005.

Joe was born in LaGrande, Oregon onNovember 9, 1909.

In 1918, his parents Max and Katie immigrated to Canada to homestead in Ermine, Sask. In the 20's and early 30's, when most of the farming was done with horses, Joe worked on the family farm and joined the threshing crews at harvest time.

For entertainment, Joe and his brothers enjoyed playing baseball on various teams around the region. In 1934, he left Ermine on a cattle train from Kerrobert to Moose Jaw and then hopped a freight train to Fort William. Joe worked in various bush camps in the area, ran shovel and bulldozer until 1943 and then worked as a mechanic until he retired from the Abitibi Mechanical Woodlands Division as Mechanical Foreman

in 1974.He met Marguerite Devine in Fort William.They were wed in 1945 and raised a family.
After retirement, Joe kept active with part-time work, carpentry, gardening and fishing.In more recent years, he enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles and watching sports, game shows and current events on TV.

Joe is survived by Marguerite, his wife of 60 years, son Bob (Phyllis), daughters Joan and Fran, a sister Margaret (Saskatoon), sister-in-law Edna Devine and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Mary (in infancy), son David (1996), brothers Paul, Max, Carl, Fred and George and sisters Mary Veness, Emma, Sister Frances, Anna and Alice Blow.

Funeral services for Mr. Dutli will be held at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 211 S. Archibald Street, where he was a long time parishioner, on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 1:30 p.m.
A private family interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
