Geneva Belle Brinkman, age 97, of Findlay died at 3:18 pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Birchaven Health Care Center. She was born on April 9, 1910 in Biglick Township, Hancock County to the late Harry H. and Bernice B. (Newcomer) VanHorn. She married L. Arthur Brinkman on January 9, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1992. Geneva was also preceded in death by two brothers; Ralph M. and Ray L. VanHorn and two sisters; Gertrude I. Howard, Leona M. Kemerley. She is survived three sisters; Virginia (Bill) Wighaman of Mentor, OH, Della B. Baughman of Findlay and Jean M. (Charles) Smith of Elliston, OH, sister-in-law Ferne VanHorn of Findlay and numerous nieces and nephews. Geneva was a graduate of Vanlue High School, Class of 1928. She was a graduate of Nursing at Findlay Home and Hospital which was an affiliate of Cincinnati General Hospitals. She also received a Degree as a X-Ray Technician. As a Registered Nurse she did private nursing in many homes. She worked for Dr. John Marshall, Blanchard Valley Hospital and RCA all in Findlay. She was a member of Salem-Cass United Methodist Church and a former member of Nurses Alumni of Findlay Home and Hospital, Findlay Business, Professional Womens Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 from 1:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and for one hour prior to the service (9:30-10:30) at the church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Salem-Cass United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ray Kane, Rev Richard VanHorn and Rev. Duane Kemerley officiating. Burial will be in Bechtel Cemetery, Allen Township, Hancock County. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Geneva to the Salem-Cass United Methodist Church, 4699 CR 236, Findlay or Birchaven Care Center, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.
