Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Billy Ray Jones, 83, of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Bro. Todd Sumrall will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Madison Jones and Jennifer Jones. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, and from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Sam Jones, Brandon Jones, Phillip Ponder, John Woolwine, Ricky Myers, and D.J. Stuckey. Ricky Ponder and Kelly Davis will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Billy Ray was born February 18, 1940, at the family home in Mount Olive to Hollis and Zera Jones. He married the former Joyce Kirkland on December 31, 1966, and they raised their family in Collins. Mr. Billy Ray drove a truck for Miller Transport for 21 years. After his retirement from Miller Transport in 1994, he worked for Woolwine Ford Dealership for about fifteen years. He was a deacon and longtime member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and "granddaddy", and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Joyce Kirkland Jones; his parents, Hollis W. and Zera Wells Jones; daughter, Angel Jones; brothers, Tommy Joe Jones and Tony Michael Jones; sisters, Geneva Jones Ainsworth, Virginia Jones Allen, Ruby Faye Jones, and Judy Jones.

Survivors include his sons, Billy Joe Jones (Teresa) of Mount Olive and Gerald Ray Jones (Jennifer) of Lake, Mississippi; brother, Willie Charles Jones of Bassfield, Mississippi; sisters, Janette Flynt of Mount Olive and Vernell Autin of Lockport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Samuel Matthew Jones, Madison Lynn Jones, Brandon Ray Jones; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Billy Ray's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate or Blair E. Batson's Children's Hospital at umc.edu.
