Graveside services for Robert Chisholm Bailiff, 73, will be at 2 p.m. today at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning. Wiefels & Son Mortuary in Banning is handling arrangements. He died Saturday of cancer at his home.
Mr. Bailiff, who was born in Loma Linda, lived in Banning all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 until 1945. He was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He worked for Portrero Ranch south of Beaumont for two years. He was a cattle rancher in Cabazon and Banning. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting, camping and playing the fiddle.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; a son, Bruce of Banning; a daughter, Lynn Lara Ortega of Banning; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions to the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, 11201 Benton St., Loma Linda, 92357.
