Mrs. Mary Drake Buried
Strawberry Point, Ia. -- Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Franklin Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Mary A. Drake, 77, who died Friday at the county home in Elkader. Rev. Arthur McFarland, Oelwein, had charge of the services. Burial was in Strawberry Point Cemetery. Mary Joy, daughter of Solomon and Mary Joy, was born at Strawberry Point, Feb. 5, 1859.

In the 1880 federal census and 1885 Iowa census, she was recorded as blind.
On 08 June 1899, she married Mordica P. Drake, a piano tuner who was then living in Mt. Vermon.
1900: IA, Clayton, Strawberry Point, she & Mordica were living with her parents
1910: IA, Clayton, Strawberry Point, she & Mord8ca were living with her parents
1914: Mordica was a piano tuner living in Maquoketa and was married a 2nd time
1920: IA, Black Hawk, Waterloo, Mary Drake, a divorcee, was boarding with Mary Grapes
1930: IA, Decatur, Lamoni, Mary Drake, 71, a widow, was living in the Latter Day Saints Home
1936: Died at the County Home in Elkader, listed as a divorcee
Note: When Mordica Drake died at a Maquoketa nursing home in 1957, his death notice mentioned that he was a member of the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
