Mary Elizabeth Paine was born in 1831 in Maryland. Her parents are not identified.

Mary Elizabeth Paine and Jesse T. Boyer were married on 23 May 1861 in Frederick County, Maryland. The couple are known to have had a son, James, born about 1864. The Boyer family was enumerated in 1870 and 1880 in the county's Jefferson District. Mary and Jesse Boyer later moved to Middletown, Frederick County, where he died in 1893.
