Marlow - The Rev. WILLIAM MARLIN THOMAS "BOOG" HOWARD, 92, of Marlow, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Marlow.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Marlow High School Auditorium, with the Rev. Richard Moore and the Rev. J.O. Howard officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Stephens County, under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow.
W.M. was born Dec. 31, 1915, in the Hope Community, to John Oscar Howard and Sarah Frances Dillon Howard. W.M. was a lifelong resident of Stephens County and attended Thomas School. He married Nolie Naomi Duke on May 12, 1936, in Lawton. She preceded him in death May 20, 1992. He married Ada Lorene Hawes-Bernard on Dec. 12, 1992, in Duncan. She preceded him in death July 31, 1999.
He has been married to Evelyn Margaret Cates-Robertson Howard since Jan. 29, 2001.
W.M. pastored several churches in the Marlow-Duncan area and evangelized across Oklahoma and surrounding states. He enjoyed automotive work and was the owner of Howard Auto Sales for 54 years.
W.M. was a ham radio operator and was known as "Cotton Chopper" on the CB radio. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories. W.M. loved preaching, singing and playing gospel music. He was a member of Hilltop Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Margaret Howard of the home; four sons, the Rev. G.W. Howard and wife Pat, Richard Howard and wife Janie, and Allen Howard, all of Marlow, and Carroll Howard and wife Donna of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Marge Pidcock, and Kathy Christian and husband Wayne, all of Marlow, and Glenda Hurt and husband John of Ponca City; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; nine stepchildren and spouses, Charles and Delores Bernard, Henry and Berniece Bernard, Billy and Roma Bernard, Veda and Ronald Howard, and Ronny and Laquita Bernard, all of Duncan, Ceal and Donnie Howard, and Connie Robertson, all of Marlow, Mancy and Harold Massey of Texas, and Lewis and Peggy Bernard of Fairfax; three brothers, the Rev. Ray Howard of Marlow, Robert Howard of Mustang, and the Rev. J.O. Howard of Lawton; a sister, Berneice Alexander of California; and a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jerry Howard; a granddaughter, Lois Howard; a great-great-granddaughter, Alicia Scott; four brothers; four sisters; and a son-in-law, Dink Pidcock.
Bearers will be Donnie Howard, Artie Pidcock, Lyndol Marney, Travis Christian, Eddie Patterson and Roger Bridgman.
Honorary bearers are Ernie Wilkerson, Ray Christian Sr., Sanford Isham.
