Russell Eugene Smith, age 82 of Veedersburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at home. He was born in Veedersburg on March 29, 1941 to the late Clarence and Sina Irene (Booe) Smith.

Russell attended Veedersburg High School and on October 7, 1961 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Brady. Russell owned and operated Russell's Roofing for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, working in the yard, and coon hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Phyllis Smith of Veedersburg; three children, Mona (Nathan) Norman of Bloomingdale, Stacy Smith of Covington, and Rusty Smith of Veedersburg; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jordan, Jonah, Brandon, Jeremy, Tina, Justin, Zachary, Clint and Ashton; 31 great grandchildren and 2 on the way, 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Jack) Keller of Covington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike Smith; four brothers, Joe, Randy, Harold, and Gary Smith; and three sisters, Lucille Grimes, Sherry Smith, and Janet Smith.
