The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Wagoner Patrick C. Donnelly (ASN: 158042), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 6th Engineers, 3d Division, A.E.F., near Hamel, Belgium, 28 March 1918. Wagoner Donnelly placed himself in a most exposed position, under direct observation of the enemy, to cover the attempted rescue of a wounded comrade, maintaining his position until the party returned.
