James was one of the eight children of Richard Calvin Bearden and Emily Catherine Reagor. James (Jim) married Cynthia Ida Ously (Woosley) on May 8, 1892 and lived in Booneville, in Lincoln County, Tennessee. They had three sons: Rollie Ray Bearden (May 9, 1893-Feb. 23, 1953), Clifford Wilson Bearden (Dec. 5, 1894-July 20, 1965) and James Calvin Bearden (Oct. 15, 1900-July 15, 1984)
Jim had a woodshop in Booneville. He made each son a large table when they married. One of these tables, made of cherry is still in use at the Booneville Community Building. Their house had a screened in porch with a swing. they alwo had electricity, telephone and radio, which not everyone had at that time period.

Jim was the first caretaker of the cemetery at Booneville and was given a plot in the middle of the cemetery, where you will find several of the Bearden family buried. Decoration day was the second Sunday in May "Mother's Day"
