Virginia loved her family and often expressed her love through food. She was also an exceptional cook and baker. Her perfect mashed potatoes and delicious red velvet cake were just a few of the dishes her children and grandchildren often requested, and nobody could make Thanksgiving dressing the way she could. She cooked three meals a day, seven days a week for many years, feeding her children, grandchildren and anyone else who came through the door. If you left her house hungry, it was your own choice. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to her flowerbeds, and an occasional shopping trip with her daughters. She loved the simple things in life, such as riding around the farm with Odis, a Sunday drive, or an unexpected visitor.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, O.W. Hoffman, her parents, her siblings; Garl Gene Lamons, Leroy Lamons, Tommy Lamons and Illa Mae Lamons; an infant son, James Hoffman, daughter Mary Roach and sons in law Paul Roach and Rick Hix. She is survived by a brother, Bill Lamons and his wife Dyanne, and a sister, Alice Hamby; three daughters, Joyce Moss and husband Marty, Rita Hix, and Oleta Mabray and husband Gene; two sons, Winston Hoffman and wife Tamatha and Wesley Hoffman; thirteen grandchildren, Travis Roach, Audra Imhoff, Christy Strayer, Brent Hoffman, Justin Smith, Rashelle Hix, Haley Hix, Emily VanDyke, Nick Mabray, Holly Hoffman, Lance Hoffman, Sarah McCarty and Orry Hoffman; sixteen great grandchildren and many other relatives, friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
The family of Virginia Hoffman would like to express their sincere thanks to Cherokee Nation Home Health and Hospice staff.
The visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 5-7pm at Green County Funeral Home and the graveside service is on Tuesday, May 23, at 2pm at the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
