Thomas Otto Edling, 79, of West Columbia passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Thomas was born October 28, 1943 to the late Waldo and Viola Edling in Houston, Texas.

Thomas was a graduate of West Columbia High School. He attended Texas A&M University to study Industrial Education. Thomas returned to West Columbia to teach shop classes before owning and operating a sod farm. Thomas enjoyed hunting in West Texas. Nothing brought him more joy than hunting with his family. Thomas enjoyed ranching, woodworking and metal work. He loved traveling and seeing the country.

Thomas is survived by his children Shannon Edling of West Columbia, Chad Edling and his wife Catrina of Angleton and Dr. Julie George and her husband Dr. Trevor George of Pittsburgh. He was also a loving grandfather to Brittany, Cassidy, Corbin, Cobey, Celeste, Remi, Brinley and numerous great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Rosalea Vencil of Needville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Slade and sister Peggy Powers.

Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service on Saturday, May 20, 2023, 10:00 A.M. at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest Cemetery, West Columbia.
