Marla Ann Peterson, 85, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2023. She was born June 17, 1937, in Keosauqua, IA, to Leo Cecil and Mildred Noreen (Bunker) Bankson. She married her sweetheart Jack Donald Peterson on September 20, 1952 in Rock Island, IL. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2022. Marla was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had the gift of hospitality and hosted numerous family events over the years. Marla's presence in the room made everyone welcome, and fellowship with other Christians was very important to her. She was gifted in music and blessed with a beautiful singing voice. Marla's actions spoke clearly of her love for God and her family and of what she valued in life. Survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, (all of whom were her favorite) Steven (Kathy), Hans (Kim), Scott (Sharon), Kerry (Jill), Tim (Rebecca), Eric (LeAnn); 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Penny) Bankson; nieces, nephews, cousins, her husband's extended family and her beloved Yorkie, Allie. Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Donna Tweed, and close friend, Paula DeRosso
