Her obit was published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on Feb. 14, 1923 and stated that she was a prominent citizen of Henrico Co., VA & served as chairman of the Henrico Co. Board of Supervisors and member of the Legislature during the 1920-1921 session.

Mrs. Barnes was a daughter of the late Edmund Waddill of Charles City County, and Mary Louise Redwood. She is survived by her husband, one son, Edmund Barnes, now a resident of Denver, Col. and the following brothers and sisters: Samuel P. Waddill, Judge Edmund Waddill, Jr., of Richmond; Mrs. James H. Christian, of Providence Forge; William M. Waddill, of Louisiana; Charles C. Waddill, of Norfolk; Mrs. H. M. Bennett, Miss Julia L. Waddill and Mrs. Robert H. Talley, of this city...
