A daughter of Arthur Hollembeak and his wife the former Bertha Burger, Dorothy Mae Hollembeak was born 30 November 1919 in Fall Creek, Adams county, Illinois.

She graduated Seymour high school.

Wilbur G. Buss and Dorothy Mae Hollembeak married 25 October 1942 in Golden Illinois.

They owned and ran Buss Bakery in Camp Point, Adams county, Illinois.

Dorothy Buss belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden Illinois. She was a member of Lutheran Church Women.

Mrs. Buss volunteered in numerous civic and charitable groups. They included: Altrusa, D. A. R. Quincy Illinois chapter, Chatton Home Extension as a charter member, Home Extension Board of Adams county Illinois including as a past president, Good Shepherd Nursing Home volunteer, 4-H Club as a leader, Mission Builder with her husband at ELCA, and a volunteer and once executive director of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy M. Buss passed away 24 September 1993 at her residence in Golden Illinois. Brothers Harold, Pat, Pete and Robert predeceased her.

Reverend Lynn Bergren led services held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, Illinois. Interment was at Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden, Illinois.
