Sara Williams Smith
March 3, 1936 ~ October 16, 2022 (age 86)

Tribute
It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Sara Williams Smith, born on March 3, 1936 in Cleveland, Tennessee. Sara passed away on October 16, 2022, at the age of 86, after surviving the loss of two husbands, Oscar Eugene Williams and Granville Russell Smith; brother, Louie Edward; and son, John David.

Born in 1936 as the daughter of John Benjamin and Pearlie Mae Cross, she graduated from Ooltewah High School in 1954. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Jo; daughter, Yvonne; son, Don (and Kris); three granddaughters, Jerry, Jacqui (and Arturo), and Sara; grandson, Trip (and Sasha); and four great grandchildren, Kaden, Akaidys, Eligh, and Caleb.

She was a Girl Scout troop leader, and actively participated in her children's high school band and chorus. She loved the time and lifelong friendships she developed as a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Sara also worked as a dietary supervisor, substitute teacher, and owned a spa/hot tub business before finally retiring.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all of the support during this very difficult time and encourages donations to the breastcancer.org in lieu of flowers. A celebration of life will be held at the Community Baptist Church in Rock Springs, GA, on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
