BURT — Frank A. Burt, aged 79, in recent years of Tucson, AZ, and formerly of the city of Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2003, ending a long battle with congestive heart failure. And so, yet another voice of the greatest generation has fallen silent. Having faithfully served his country in the US Army in the European Theater during WWII, and the family he loved ever since, this gentle man, with a lifelong love of both his Savior Jesus Christ and flying, has been promoted and has finally received his wings. Quiet in public, Frank had a delightful sense of humor and loved to make his family laugh. Born February 22, he liked sharing his birthday with George Washington, the father of our country. Cherishing his memory are family: his wife of nearly 56 years, Jewel (VanderSchuur) Burt; five children, Carol (Ken) Gertz of Atlanta, GA, Frank H. Burt of Wyoming, Gary (Lisa) Burt of Tucson, Sandy (Bruce) Van Antwerp of Hudsonville, and Brian (Debby) Burt of Bangor, ME; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Char) Burt, and sister, Bonnie Burt; in-laws, Madelyn VanderSchuur, Carl and Mae Fisher, and Bob and Ann VanderSchuur; and numerous nephews and nieces; as well as many friends. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be two memorial services: the first, in Tucson on May 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Amphitheater Bible Church; the second, locally at a place and time yet to be determined.
