The Dalles, Ore. Feb. 8. -- Carl Burchtorf, an old and respected resident of this city, died at his home here last night after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Burchtorf was born in Brunswick, Germany September 5, 1839. He came to America in 18465, locating in Evansville, Indiana., where on December 18, 1860, he was married to Miss Mollie Ladot.
In 1877 Mr. and Mrs. Burchtorf came to The Dalles, this having been their home since.
He is survived by five children, Mrs. Dora E. Stoneman, Mrs.Ida Nagel, Henry, Fred, and Charles Burchtorf.
Mr. Burchtorf was a member of the Workmen Lodge of this city, and the funeral will be conducted by that order.
